Reading List #1
Some Books You Might Enjoy
Think Big: Unleashing Your Potential for Excellence
Ben Carson, MD with Cecil Murphey
I just finished this book. It only took me part of three days to read because I enjoyed it so well. It made me consider how well I am investing myself in the ministry of Jesus Christ my Lord. I believe it will be a positive boost to you in some area of your life.
The Lord My Portion
Watchman Nee
This is an older book. It is divided into a reading for each day of the year. It might be used as help in your prayer and devotional life.
Things to Come: A Study in Biblical Eschatology
J. Dwight Pentecost
This is an excellent volume if you are interested in Bible Prophecy and the end of the age. I would depart from the late Dr. Pentecost on some of his views. Particularly, I believe in a continual event by event chronology of the book of Revelation at least for the most part. Dr. Pentecost sees in Revelation a different chronology. This a large volume but an excellent book on the subject covered.
His discussion of the literal interpretation of Scripture, which I agree with, is top notch.
If you read it let me know what you think.
Jesus is Coming
William Blackstone
This is an older volume. I might note that I like a lot of the older books. The author does a lot of Scripture documentation, which is always a plus for me. It is also an easy read.
Jesus is Coming for You
R.A Torrey
This too is an older volume, easy to read and is a close cousin to the volume Jesus is Coming by Blackstone. Try this one if you have interest in this subject. I hope we all are looking for the coming of our Lord.
Where do you purchase these? If you own a Kindle reader or have Kindle on your computer or cellphone you can find all but the volume by Torrey in digital format.
The volume by Torrey you may have to buy used, but I did find it reasonably priced on Amazon in print version. At the moment I looked they show it new and used. Remember if you buy used to calculate shipping and handling for it is often more than the purchase price of the book. This could still be a good deal if the book suits your need or desire.
